Adaptability – Courage to change

Enjoying success required the ability to adapt. Only by being open to change will you have a true opportunity to get the most from your talent.”  Nolan Ryan

What does adaptability mean and how do we define it? In Personal Psychology, “Adaptability is a personality trait and is the ongoing capacity of an individual to exhibit adaptive behavior, to be flexible and maximize functioning in the face of stress.”

How quickly we adapt? In today’s environment we are surrounded by tremendous challenges, highly specialized and intelligent workforce where reinventing and transforming ourselves is our only chance of survival.

Every day we are dealing with different kinds of stressful situations in our personal and professional lives and the main reason of the stress is our inability to deal with the change.

The more flexible you are to the situations, the more likely are the prospects to create healthy relationships with people around.  Hence it is aptly said, that the only thing which is permanent is change!

Adaptability is eagerly embracing a change in plans without complaint. Dealing with changing priorities and recover from mishaps and showing an optimistic outlook.

As change is the only thing which is constant so is failure and regret. A person with adaptable personality is persistent and confident in facing difficulties, is tolerant to others and considerate about others feelings.

We can start to put into practice in small ways like practicing Yoga, learning a new instrument or a language, enhance the ability to experiment and be open to new ideas which will helps in becoming a versatile person.

By developing this quality not only you will be able to respond effectively to the complexities and take hold of opportunities at work place but also your personal life will be rewarded …

You tend to be respectful about others desires and their needs as it relates to yours.  Imagine the contentment of a wife when the husband volunteers to do the dishes after the party!! And in return the wife agrees to watch a football game with him!!

Luckily with the help of Graphology, we can analyze whether the person is rigid – “It’s my way or the highway” or he can deal with changes.

  • People who are adaptive in nature have an easy and graceful writing with minor variations with flexible baselines, unlike obstinate person whose writing has very rigid baselines with hooked terminal strokes and T – bars.

  • There is an even pressure in the entire handwriting with a moderate speed.

  • You may also find letters connected with each other which primarily denotes flexibility and expressiveness of the writer. It also shows that the person likes to be social and is warm and receptive.
